Post Oak Tritt Road is in East Cobb, running west from Sandy Plains Road over to Willeo Road at the banks of the Chattahoochee River. A “post oak” is a kind of oak tree, of course, used for making posts. But what is a “tritt”–a creek?
Actually, the property where the road was built used to be farmland belonging to the Tritt family, so the road was named for the family. One well-known Tritt offspring, country musician Travis Tritt, hails from here. He named his newest record label “Post Oak Records.” Written by Jack Lyle
