Cobb County Cemetery Preservation Fund

Through the Cobb County Cemetery Preservation Fund, Cobb Landmarks is happy to offer financial support to deserving organizations or individuals wishing to improve, document, and/or preserve cemeteries of historic significance and lack the resources to pay for the efforts.  Those wishing to apply for funds must complete the online application below and be able to describe the work that needs to be done, explain how they envision the work to be performed, and detail what funds are needed to perform the work.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does Cobb Landmarks provide the labor?

Cobb Landmarks does not perform cemetery restoration work. Grant applications should include labor estimates from cemetery restoration and preservation professionals where needed.

Who decides which projects are funded?
Applications will be reviewed by the Cobb Landmarks Preservation Committee. Funding for recommended projects will then need approval from the Cobb Landmarks Finance Committee.  Distributions from the fund shall only be made by a grant request from the Cobb Landmarks Executive Director.

How does the fund work and how can I support it?
The Cobb County Cemetery Preservation Fund was established through the generosity of Carl C. Staley. The fund is held at Cobb Community Foundation. The Cobb Landmarks Executive Committee controls the fund’s investment allocation and the proceeds are withdrawn annually to provide perpetual funding for the Cobb County Cemetery Preservation Fund.  The account principal will be increased with donations.
