Exterior Lift Replacement Campaign
The William Root House is owned by Cobb Landmarks and is operated as a historic house museum and public garden. Last year, more than 6,320 students and adults visited the museum. Many of our visitors with mobility challenges were only able to experience the museum by using our exterior lift (elevator) to access the house. After 20+ years of use, our current lift is no longer operable or repairable. For the first time in over two decades, we are suddenly facing a challenge in making the museum accessible to all visitors.
The cost to remove the old lift and install a new one is between $20,000 and $25,000. As we begin the process of having the lift replaced, we are reaching out to our friends for support not only to install a new lift but also to send a powerful message about the importance of inclusivity and accessibility in our community. Each donation, no matter the amount, will help us reach our goal. Thank you for your support!
