These events allow our members and the community to participate and share our appreciation of our Cobb heritage, and at the same time, support our organization. We have information on the specific activities to the right.
We will kick off our GWCTD series by celebrating Oktoberfest in Marietta with a delicious dinner at the historic Kennesaw Avenue home of Jane Manning.
CLHS will present An Evening of Contemporary Art at Marietta's dk Gallery, located on the historic Marietta Square. This event will feature live jazz, wine and cheese, and a talk by Mariettan Lincoln Stone.
CLHS Chairs Chris and Cathy Brown will host a 3-course dinner at their Cherokee Street home, which was featured on the 2003 Pilgrimage Tour of Homes, after which well-known antiques expert and author Deanne Levison will talk about how to identify and evaluate American antique furniture, using real antiques as examples.
Bronze Life Master and author of 'KISS Your Way to Better Bridge Play' Nancy Motes will direct an afternoon of bridge at Delinda and Charles Kilgores lovely home across from Marietta Country Club.
This event will be featured at The Brickyard at historic Marietta Station. This is an opportunity to enjoy a fire-grilled steak, quality cigars, and some superb bourbon.
Adrian and Jim Pressley are offering an elegant dinner party at their Church Street home, which was featured on the 2009 Marietta Pilgrimage Tour.
CLHS is teaming up with the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art for a joint fundraiser called 'Canvases for a Cause'. Participants will be able to channel their inner artist with instruction from local artists Claire Dunaway and Eduin Rosell, while enjoying deluxe hors d'oeuvres at the historic MCMA on Atlanta Street.
Bring all the family for a Blue Devil Barbecue, served tailgate style at the Maple Avenue home of Laurie and Josh Gazaway, and then walk the short distance to historic Northcutt Stadium to watch the Marietta Blue Devils take on the Raiders of Walton High.
Guests are invited to ask 'What's All the Buzz About?' as they enjoy Tailgate Tapas and Quarterback Quenchers while watching the Ramblin Wrecks of Georgia Tech take on Virginia Tech from the delightful comfort of the Blair Valley home of Brittney and David Bottoms.
Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society is proud to offer again this year an early morning hike of the Hyde Farm and Power Cabin properties, followed by a delicious al fresco breakfast provided by The Flying Biscuit. This event, a repeat of last year's popular one, will be led by Morning Washburn, longtime steward of CLHSs Power Cabin, offers a rare opportunity to see this special 2-mile trail of river hills and bottomlands. This event was the first to sell out last year, so act fast!
Enjoy an evening of history and fine dining at Oakmont, one of Mariettas most historic homes. The elegant home of Tracie and Tom Guckian was featured on the 2008 Marietta Pilgrimage Tour.
Enjoy a little 'Southern Comfort' at the historic Sessions Street home of Jennifer and Charles Gay while being entertained by renowned local author Lauretta Hannon, the funniest woman in Georgia, according to Southern Living Magazine. Ms. Hannons readings of her works will be accompanied by delicious southern delicacies.
Enjoy a Ladies' Brunch with local chef and author Johnnie Gabriel at the home of Shannon and Ford Bohannon. Johnnie's new cookbook will be available for purchase and autographing.
