This list consists of 9 properties in the county that Cobb Landmarks is focusing on assisting over the next several years in their preservation efforts. As part of our organizational strategic planning initiatives, one Cobb Landmarks objective is to “develop, plan, and take an active role in the ‘Preservation Priority’ projects in Cobb County.” This list is the starting point for this initiative, as we have identified projects, activities and solutions for preservation.
This list serves to highlight historically relevant properties in Cobb County that are in transition and/or in need of assistance, where there are applicable preservation tools available for the properties. There are five major criteria for evaluation to determine our involvement:
We will work to secure resources available to preserve these projects. This will be done by working with peer organizations and other entities in a variety of roles: advocacy, fundraising, providing publicity, finding a new use for a property, or identifying a steward for the property.
Assisting these properties will further Cobb Landmarks’ mission to proactively preserve and promote our heritage, the quality of life and the sense of place unique to Cobb County, Georgia.
