The Power-Jackson Cabin was built about 1840, and is an outstanding example of a single pen, hewn log cabin. Structures such as this were common residences of early Cobb County settlers in what was the rural, agrarian area that today is known as East Cobb. These structures are now exceedingly rare; this cabin in particular is remarkably intact. William Power was the owner of the cabin and a member of the Power Family, who farmed in Cobb County during most of the 1800s. Other Power family members include George Abner Power, who built the Power Cabin several miles away off of Hyde Road, which is owned by Cobb Landmarks.
CLHS has periodically corresponded with the property owner to communicate interest in the preservation of the property. The owner currently has no plans for the property in the short term. Cobb Landmarks continues to monitor the property.
