Step back in time and watch your students see Georgia history come alive. Whether on a visual scavenger hunt for artifacts or strolling the garden looking for medicinal herbs, students experience first hand Georgia’s antebellum lifestyle. With all the senses engaged, students are insured a unique field encounter and an opportunity for an indepth look into the day-to-day life and activities of the William Root family.

Guided by docents in period clothing, students find an accurate depiction of family life in Georgia before the Civil War in the Root House Museum, gardens, and outbuildings. Contrast and compare opportunities abound.
Customized by teachers, this unique heritage experience, spans multiple curriculums and is geared to address the new Georgia Standards. Both pre and post visit activities are offered to teachers to enhance this field experience.
Expanded tours are easily coordinated with the Marietta Museum of History and/or the Marietta Trolley Company to broaden the scope of the field experience. The nearby Marietta Square can be incorporated to broaden the field experience for students.
School group tours are usually scheduled Tuesday through Friday at 10 in the morning and are offered at a special rate of $5 per student. Teachers are admitted without charge. Children under 2 are free, however we cannot accommodate strollers. To arrange a tour for your school group, contact tours@cobblandmarks.com and include the following information:
